Happy Hot Take Hump Day! 🌶️
Let's talk about why a candidate is more than their resume.
Studies show that a recruiter or hiring manager will look at a resume for six seconds - yes, SIX SECONDS - on average before deciding if they want to screen a candidate or reject a candidate.
I’m here to tell you that six seconds is NOT enough.
Candidates are - generally speaking - not professional resume writers. Shocking, I know. Expecting everyone to have a resume that tells their full story in six seconds is unfair, biased toward those who can afford a professional resume writer, and limits you to candidates who are actively looking for work (vs. passive candidates who may not have updated their resume in years, or might not even have one at all!)
Recruiters and hiring managers, if you limit yourself to six seconds, it’s easy to forget that candidates are real people with unique experiences and skills that may not fit neatly into a bullet-pointed list. 📝
So next time you're reviewing resumes, take a moment to think about the person behind it. Or, call us and we’ll be happy to take that on for you! 😎
