Happy Hot Take Hump Day! š¶ļø Let's talk about hoppy candidates š°šāāļø.
It is my strong and firm belief that we shouldn't immediately discount a candidate's resume just because they've had a few job changes in recent years.
Why?
Career changes and job hopping can be a sign of growth and development.
In the post-pandemic world, many have experienced layoffs, furloughs, and the ups and downs of the economy.
Taking time off for family or personal reasons has also become more common.
The candidate could have just had a really terrible boss or was experiencing a toxic work culture! (And kudos to them for not sacrificing their mental health for a job.)
I challenge all recruiters and hiring managers to use empathy when looking at these resumes - we don't know their circumstances without speaking with them.
